First Southern California City to Install Complete Count Committee
Pasadena City Council has pledged its commitment to the 2010 U.S. Census by
becoming the Los Angeles region’s first city with a population of over 100,000 to form a Complete Count Committee (CCC).
With the 2010 Census on the horizon, the U.S. Census Bureau wants to ensure that everyone is counted. A complete and accurate count of all cities is empowering. City budgets, grants for community services, and representation at state and federal levels depend on the complete count of the local population. Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard has appointed Greg Robinson as CCC Liaison to work closely with the Los Angeles Regional Census Center to ensure that everyone in Pasadena is counted on April 1, 2010.
Partners of the Pasadena CCC represent community, non-profit, education, youth, faith-based, business, and neighborhood organizations. CCCs incorporate local knowledge, influence and possible resources to educate residents and promote the once-a-decade (decennial) census through locally-based and targeted outreach and promotion effort.
Sharing outreach strategies to achieve the most complete count ever for the City of Pasadena’s 2010 Census will affect the distribution of $300 billion in federal funds to communities.
