Los Angeles  County Fifth District Supervisor Michael Antonovich recognized Cecilia S. Wu, before the Board of Supervisor for her decade of service as chair of the County’s Small Business Commission.  Cecilia is an appointee of the Supervisor. The Small Business Commission provides ongoing advice and support to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to help small business grow and do business with Los Angeles County. Ms. Wu has been extensively involved in the formation, representation of, and assistance to, multiple companies in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, and various South American countries. Her Father. Edward T. Wu was consul general from Taiwan to Hawaii and to Kansas, before serving as Ambassador to Bolivia and to the Vatican.  She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from UCLA School of Law and is fluent in many languages.  Present at the ceremony was Debbie Cabreira-Johnson, director, Office Of Small Business Los Angeles County, new chair of the LA County Small Business Commission, George Hill, and fellow Commissioners K.C. Susan Hollander, chief government affairs officer for Providence Health & Services, California, received the American Hospital Association’s Grassroots Champion Award recognizing the nation’s leading healthcare advocates. Hollander is the sole winner from California for the award, which recognizes one nominee from each state. “Susan works tirelessly with our legislators to make sure that the voices of the poor and vulnerable are heard and that their needs are met,” said Arnold R. Schaffer, senior vice president and chief executive of Providence California. Hollander was chosen for the award by the California Hospital Association for her dedication to educating legislators about the impacts of health care reform and other public policy issues on hospitals and their patients. The Grassroots Champion Award was created to recognize hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on how major issues impact the vital roles of hospitals in their communities.
