Citing Burbank pacesetting “dark fiber” network as a key contributor to its downtown “Media Village” mixed use complex emerging as a media hub, Gangi Development Company announces that 2G Digital Post is expanding to the San Fernando Valley with its lease of 6,500 square feet of office space at the project to bolster the firm’s post production services to major studios in Burbank.
Frank Gangi, president of Burbank-based Gangi Development, reports that 2G Digital Post initiate occupancy of its new street level space located at 280 E. Magnolia Blvd.
“We are delighted to welcome 2G Digital Post to our project. They are a great tenant to attract, particularly in these challenging times. It’s very important for a company like 2G Digital to access Burbank’s new enterprise-oriented ‘dark fiber’ network,” Gangi said. He noted that the transaction sustains “Media Village’s” 100 per cent occupancy. Consideration for the five-year lease was $ 950,000.
2G Digital Post is an HD online company specializing in versioning and re-mastering major movies and television programs for broadcast, airline, and DVD use. The company handles both content and formatting – editing, graphics, and audio fixes along with compression for a broad range of distribution outlets.
“We decided to expand to Burbank in order to enhance our geographical diversity with the studios in this area. We are in a growing mode and believe the time is right to launch our new, cutting edge business model of post-production to this side of the hill to better serve our customer base,” Chuck Filliettaz, president of 2G Digital Post, said. He added that the company will retain its Culver City, CA facility.
Filliettaz emphasized that “Media Village” “is ideally suited to the needs of his company’s work force. Our team works hard and plays hard. This project gives them easy access to a wide variety of dining, light rail and entertainment opportunities. “Additionally, Downtown Burbank’s ‘dark fiber’ network, located along Third Street adjacent to Media Village, constitutes a cutting edge business benefit, allowing us to transfer and send large files of data from point to point worldwide. Burbank has made it easier for businesses to tap into that network,” Filliettaz said. Somewhere between 20 and 50 people will be employed at 2G Digital’s new Burbank site.
2G Digital Post joins Video Symphony TV & Film School, another media company, as a tenant of “Media Village”. Video Symphony is engaged in instruction on video editing, audio production and motion graphics.
“We are excited to continue the Burbank tradition and have a great media company like 2G Digital join us in Downtown Burbank,” Gail Stewart, business district manager, said.
