The Armenian American Medical Society of California held its annual health fair at Saint Mary’s Armenian Church in Glendale. The AAMSC Ladies Auxiliary, the Armenian American Nurses Association, and the Los Angeles County Office of Women’s Health Were awarded plaques of appreciation in recognition of their dedication to the success of AAMSC’s health fair and community outreach. A special presentation was made to John Krikorian, publisher of Senior LIVING & Business Life Magazines and consultant to Krikorian Marketing Group, who received a plaque that read, “In recognition of your selfless dedication to the success of AAMSC’s Health Fair and in appreciation of your collaborative efforts to benefit the community at large.” Zarmine Naccashian, RN, coordinator of the Diabetes Care Center, Glendale Adventist Medical Center, also received special mention. She is widely regarded as the backbone of AAMSC’s annual Health Fair. In its 18th running, the annual Health Fair is targeted to members of the community who cannot afford health insurance or fall short of being eligible for government aid. The event is primarily a preventive case service, and provides services, brings specialists, and connects attendants to resources available within their local community year round. Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries recently announced that Governor C. Joy has been hired as Senior Vice President – Advance Planning. In this role, Joy will be responsible for the management of the Advance Planning sales force at all Forest Lawn locations. Joy will report directly to Forest Lawn President & CEO, John F. Llewellyn. “We are very pleased to have
someone of Governor’s background to lead our sales team,” said Llewellyn. “His extensive industry experience, strong leadership abilities, and commitment to excellence will allow us to continue providing our families with the highest level of service in the industry.” A 20-year veteran of the United States Navy, Joy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

from Alameda University in Boise, Idaho.
The Board of Directors of Villa Esperanza Services recently announced the retirement of longtime CEO, Dottie Nelson. The Board thanked Nelson for her 12-years of exceptional leadership that has brought Villa into the 21st Century. With Nelson at the helm, Villa has grown from three million dollar organization to at ten million dollar Center of Excellence. The Board also announced the selection of Kelly White as the next CEO effective April first. Kelly has been with Villa for 12-years, coming from Lanterman Regional Center where she worked for years as
a service coordinator.
The UCLA Medal, the university’s highest honor, was awarded today to Dr. Jonathan Fielding, the director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, a county health officer and a professor at the UCLA School of Public Health, for his work as an innovator, leader and public health visionary. Fielding is responsible for providing pubic health services to more than 10 million people, including residents of the eighth largest city in the world, and is credited with implementing the letter grading system in Los Angeles County restaurants, which has reduced restaurant related food-borne illness outbreaks and hospitalizations by up to 20 percent. He is the chairman of two major national health committees, Healthy People 2020 and the Task Force on Community
Preventive Services.
